Next-Generation Innovation
As the next-generation of the software business comes into focus, innovation will remain at the core of its value for customers and investors. And the focus will continue to evolve away from products and towards other areas of the business.

And though the last few years have been highly innovative, the next few years will be even more so.
Looking forward to five or ten years in the future, we see a new landscape of innovation. There will be self-service applications, mashups, and new offerings that aren't even conceived of today. Experimentation with pricing and delivery will continue. The megavendors will deliver true SOA and enable massive integration potential. Vertical standards could become a reality. Open source will further expand the definition of "intellectual property."
The power of these innovations will become evident as software vendors experiment and work with customers to develop the next generation of business-driving and industry-changing solutions.
