Most Enterprise 2007 attendees were in agreement that SaaS would be the most successful new model by 2010. When asked which trend would be a failure, Web 2.0, SOA and, surprisingly, offshoring, were all cited as contenders.

Attendees say SaaS seems most promising but perhaps only because it is coming to fruition as we speak. These statistics may prove the impatience of industry leaders. As the press and investors chase down the "Next Big Thing," it can be difficult to remember that today's successful emerging vendors such as Salesforce.com and MySQL took many years to reach their heights today.
